Specs from both manufacturer datasheets Updated Sep 9, 2026
For most listeners I would take the Elac Debut B5.2. It has the better overall sound quality, the deeper and firmer bass of the two, and it is the stronger use of money by a clear margin. Buy the Dali Oberon 1 if the room matters as much as the music.

Verdict
For most listeners I would take the Elac Debut B5.2. It has the better overall sound quality, the deeper and firmer bass of the two, and it is the stronger use of money by a clear margin.
Buy the Dali Oberon 1 if the room matters as much as the music. It is the clear design winner of the pair, and it looks like a piece of furniture rather than a black box, which counts when the speakers sit in a living room instead of a study. It also leads on midrange clarity and on treble detail, so voices land precisely and naturally shaped, and cymbals and strings keep an airy top end that stays comfortable over a long evening. I would put it with vocal jazz, folk, acoustic material and dialogue-heavy film, in a medium room or smaller, and I would budget for a subwoofer if I wanted real low-end weight. Anything from 25 to 100 W drives it happily, and it is not fussy about placement.
Buy the Elac Debut B5.2 if sound per pound is what you are chasing. It takes sound quality and bass response by clear margins, and it is the better value of the two by some distance. The low end is tight and punchy enough that I would run it without a subwoofer for rock, pop and electronic material, and the soundstage projects wider than the cabinets themselves once they are placed straight into the room. The trade is a brighter top end and a plainer look, though a couple of decibels off the treble control settles the first and the second only matters if the speakers are on show. It is also the taller box at 341 mm, so measure the shelf before you order.
